Andrew Jupp's interest in radio goes back to when he was 12 by messing about with a tape recorder at home. A few years later he joined Radio Lion in September 1984. This had been his father's idea and it helped him knowing the chairman at this time!
Since then, Andrew has presented a wide variety of programmes, ranging from music-based shows to news and current affairs (he presented Spotlight for 12 years) to pantomime, music hall and others.
Although he doesn't present a regular show, he does however produce the station's weekday magazine programme, Lifestyle, and writes and records a range of special for the station, including the weekly cinema round up - The Big Screen.
Since 1988 Andrew has held a variety of different and challenging committee posts; between 2003-6 he was the station's chairman during a particularly busy time in Radio Lion's history when a new broadcast studio and playout system were installed.
Andrew worked for the Surrey Advertiser for eight years and during this time worked for BBC Southern Counties Radio for five. Since 1996 he has worked in professional radio at Broadcasting House in London.
Away from Radio Lion Andrew enjoys a wide variety of interests, including cinema, theatre, coastal walking, history, travelling and, of course, socialising.
