Charles was born in New Malden, Surrey. He lived in and around the area for many years while commuting to the City where he was involved in Investment Banking. His work took him to Canada in the late 80s and he lived in Toronto for six years. He returned to the UK in the mid-90s, moving to the Guildford area where he now lives.
Charles joined Radio Lion in 1999 and during this time has enjoyed all aspects of radio from presenting live programmes to doing production work and covering local events for the station. He has also held several management positions from Programme Controller and Studio Manager to his current position of Fundraising Officer.
His interests other than radio are probably similar to what everyone puts in a document such as this, so suffice it to say that he does some of what everyone else does, and one or two that he might prefer to keep to himself.
Charles has a unique taste for music - the first CD in his alphabetically sorted collection - no anal retention there, just quite a lot of CDs - the first is Bryan Adams and the last is Warren Zevon.
Charles learnt the piano as a child, but now can only play in the key of D-major. He owns a Fender Stratocaster, but will be the first to admit he doesn't play it very well. He says: "it was an impulse purchase, albeit a rather expensive one."
